Violence has erupted at Bawku Senior High School in the Upper East Region amidst the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), leaving a teacher injured and another staff member reportedly abducted.
Reports indicate that some students became violent after school authorities strictly enforced examination rules designed to prevent cheating.
The students allegedly reacted by vandalising school property and creating disorder on campus.
As tensions grew, the situation quickly got out of control. During the disturbance, a teacher sustained injuries.
The chaos also led to the reported abduction of another staff member, although authorities have not yet provided full details about the incident.
Relevant authorities are expected to investigate the matter and take the necessary steps to address the situation.
Efforts are also underway to restore peace and normalcy at the school.
The incident occurred while final-year senior high school students across the country continue to sit for this year’s WASSCE, an important examination that plays a major role in their academic progression.
