The Ministry of Education has extended the 2026 Senior High School (SHS) placement exercise by one week to give students more time to resolve outstanding placement issues ahead of the September 18 reopening.
The extension covers students undertaking self-placement and those seeking changes to their residential status.
The Ministry says resolution centres across the country will continue operating from Monday to Friday to assist students and parents with unresolved cases.
Press Secretary to the Education Minister, Hashmin Mohammed, said the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) Secretariat had made progress in addressing the challenges reported since the placement exercise began.
According to him, 33,726 of the 53,887 students eligible for self-placement have secured places in various schools so far.
He added that 4,531 out of 9,948 cases reported at resolution centres nationwide had also been resolved.
Mr Mohammed said the Ministry expects the number of outstanding cases to reduce significantly before students are required to report to their schools on September 18.
He urged affected students and parents to take advantage of the extended period and visit the resolution centres to address any remaining placement concerns.
