Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has held discussions with the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE) as part of his ongoing engagements with key professional and identifiable groups.
The meeting, which involved Dr. Bawumia and members of his policy team, focused on innovative approaches to addressing some of the challenges facing the country.
According to Dr. Bawumia, the discussions covered several important areas, including urban transport, infrastructure development, public procurement and value for money in government projects.
He said the engagement formed part of efforts to gather ideas and perspectives from professionals whose expertise could contribute to the development of practical policies for Ghana.
“No nation can develop without the valuable input of engineers, scientists, technologists and other professionals,” Dr. Bawumia said in a statement following the meeting.
He stressed the importance of incorporating expert knowledge into policy formulation, particularly in addressing complex developmental challenges facing the country.
Dr. Bawumia said his team was determined to ensure that the views and recommendations of professionals are considered as policies are developed to tackle Ghana’s problems.
The former Vice President expressed appreciation to the leadership and members of the Ghana Institution of Engineering who participated in the engagement.
The engagement is part of a series of consultations Dr. Bawumia is holding with various groups as he seeks to deepen discussions on policy and development issues.
The consultations are expected to provide an opportunity for professionals and other stakeholders to share their concerns and offer suggestions on how Ghana can improve its development outcomes.
