Black Stars receive GH¢15 million insurance boost from GLICO

GLICO General Insurance LTD. (GLICO General) has reaffirmed its commitment to the development of sports in Ghana by presenting a GH¢15 million Personal Accident Insurance Cover and cash support package to the Black Stars and officials of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The presentation comes as the national team intensifies preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where Ghana will seek to make a strong impact on the global stage.

The insurance package is aimed at providing protection for players, coaches, officials, and support staff throughout the tournament.

The package was presented by the Managing Director of GLICO General, A. Achampong-Kyei Esq., together with the company’s Chief Business Development Officer, Angela Asante. It was received on behalf of the GFA by General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo Esq.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Mr. Achampong-Kyei highlighted the importance of insurance in safeguarding athletes and sports administrators, especially during major international competitions.

“As our national team prepares to compete on the world stage, it is important that they do so with the confidence that they are protected. Insurance is not only about responding to unforeseen events; it is about providing peace of mind and enabling individuals to perform at their very best,” he said.

He explained that the initiative forms part of GLICO General’s broader commitment to promoting insurance awareness and encouraging more Ghanaians to embrace insurance as a vital tool for personal and financial security.

The company noted that its support for the Black Stars reflects its long-standing dedication to Ghanaian sports and its belief in the welfare of athletes who represent the country at the highest level.
