The Ghana Education Service (GES) has published the academic calendar for Senior High Schools (SHSs) and Senior High Technical Schools (SHTSs) for the 2026/2027 academic year.
The calendar, released by the GES Public Relations Unit on June 1, 2026, encompasses schools operating under the single-track system as well as transitional schools.
According to the new calendar, Form One and Form Two students in single-track schools will commence the first semester on September 18, 2026, and will remain in school until January 29, 2027.
They will then take a vacation from January 30 to March 29, 2027, before returning for the second semester on March 30.
The second semester will continue until July 30, 2027, which will signify the conclusion of the academic year, with vacation starting on July 31.
For Form Three students, the first semester will take place from September 18 to December 18, 2026.
They will have a vacation from December 19, 2026, to January 31, 2027, before resuming classes on February 1 for the second semester.
Form Three students are expected to stay in school until June 18, 2027, which will mark the end of their academic year.
The GES stated that the calendar aims to provide parents, guardians, students, and the general public with clear timelines for the 2026/2027 academic year.
