Residents demonstrate over poor Kwabenya-Berekuso road

Hundreds of residents from Dome-Kwabenya, Comet, Berekuso, Agyementi and Kitase have staged a peaceful demonstration to demand the immediate rehabilitation and completion of the Kwabenya to Berekuso-Kitase Road.

The demonstration was organised by the Dome-Kwabenya, Kitase, Berekuso Road Stakeholders Committee following what residents describe as years of neglect and repeated delays in addressing the condition of the road.

The protesters say the poor state of the road has made transportation difficult and disrupted the daily lives of residents in the affected communities.

They also said businesses operating along the road have been negatively affected, while motorists and commercial drivers face difficulties using the route, particularly when sections of the road become severely damaged.

Residents believe the road is important to the development and economic activities of the communities it connects.

They are therefore calling on the government and relevant authorities to take urgent steps to rehabilitate and complete the project.

According to the demonstrators, several appeals and complaints have been made through official channels, but these have not produced the action they expected.

They say the continued delay has increased frustration among residents, who want a lasting solution rather than temporary measures.

The protesters are therefore urging the authorities responsible for the road project to treat the matter as a priority and ensure that construction works resume and are completed within a reasonable period.

They also appealed for proper planning and supervision of the project to prevent further delays and ensure that public funds invested in the road are not wasted.
