Former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo has opened up about an alleged attempt on her life, revealing that her vehicle was struck by 48 bullets in what she believes was a carefully planned assassination attempt.
She described the incident as one of the most traumatic moments of her life, saying she survived only through God’s grace.
According to her, the volume and direction of the gunfire left no doubt in her mind that the attackers intended to kill her.
“It was a serious ordeal I went through forty eight bullets in my car. Not everyone would survive that. Forty-eight bullets meant I was the target. It was a shoot-to-kill mission,” she said.
Adwoa Safo explained that the attackers appeared to have aimed most of the bullets at the rear passenger side of the vehicle, where she normally sits when travelling with her chauffeur.
However, she said events unfolded differently on the day of the attack. With her chauffeur unavailable on that Sunday, she chose to drive herself.
She was also dressed casually in shorts, a T-shirt and a cap, leading her to believe the assailants may not have realised she was behind the steering wheel.
She recalled that she had travelled alone to visit a relative and had no security personnel or personal protection because it was a private weekend trip.
Adwoa Safo did not disclose who she believes was behind the alleged attack, but maintained that surviving the shooting remains one of the greatest testimonies of her life.
