At least four people have been killed and several others injured in two separate armed robbery attacks in the Bono East and Northern Regions, heightening concerns over security in affected areas.

According to the Ghana Police Service, the incidents occurred on May 2, 2026, prompting swift security interventions.

In the Bono East Region, armed men reportedly attacked a fuel station in Sampa, near Jato Zongo, in the Atebubu District.

The assailants opened fire, killing two people and injuring others before making off with an unspecified amount of cash from the facility.

On the same day, a separate attack was recorded in the Northern Region, where gunmen ambushed a passenger bus near Nasia along the Bolgatanga–Tamale highway.

The attackers fired indiscriminately at the vehicle, killing two passengers instantly and leaving several others with gunshot wounds.

In response, the Inspector General of Police has deployed officers from the Police Intelligence Directorate and the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit to the affected regions to support ongoing investigations and lead a manhunt for the perpetrators.

The police have also intensified armed patrols in both regions as part of efforts to prevent further attacks and reassure residents.

Authorities have assured the public that those responsible for the attacks will be apprehended and brought to justice, as investigations continue into the incidents.
