A late-night fire has left a family in Akweteyman counting their losses after flames destroyed their belongings in a three-chamber-and-hall apartment.
According to a Facebook post by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the Legon Fire Station received the distress call through the Fire Master Control at 10:20 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
Firefighters reached the scene about 20 minutes later and immediately set about containing the blaze.
Despite their efforts, the fire spread throughout the apartment, destroying everything inside before it was brought under control at 11:20 p.m. and completely extinguished at midnight.
Clothing, furniture, appliances and other household belongings were all destroyed in the fire.
The firefighters, however, managed to protect 12 neighbouring chamber-and-hall apartments and their contents from being affected. No injuries were reported.
The GNFS is still investigating the cause of the fire.
