The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially closed the sale and collection of nomination forms for its 2026 National Officers Elections, with a total of 50 forms purchased for nine national positions.
The National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC) announced the closure in a statement dated Saturday, August 22, 2026, describing the nomination period as successful and peaceful.
The committee explained that the closure marks the end of the process for purchasing and collecting forms, while the formal filing of completed nomination forms will begin on Sunday, August 23, and end on Saturday, August 29, 2026.
The party has stressed that purchasing or collecting a nomination form does not automatically make an aspirant a candidate. Aspirants will only become nominees after properly filing their completed forms and the required documents.
They will also have to go through the vetting process and any applicable appeals.
Vetting is scheduled to take place from Monday, August 31 to Thursday, September 3.
The National Chairperson, General Secretary and National Treasurer aspirants will be vetted on August 31, while the National Vice Chairperson aspirants will go through the process on September 1.
The National Organiser and National Youth Organiser aspirants will be vetted on September 2, with the National Communications Director, National Nasara Organiser and National Women Organiser aspirants scheduled for September 3.
The NOEC has also explained why it has not yet announced a date for the elections. According to the committee, it wants the filing, vetting and possible appeals to be completed before fixing a final date for balloting.
The committee said announcing a date too early could lead to postponements if appeals affect the final list of candidates.
It assured all aspirants that a firm date, venue and voting arrangements would be announced once the field of candidates has been settled.
The NOEC also called on aspirants and their supporters to maintain unity and respect throughout the process.
