Salah says Liverpool exit “right thing to do”

Mohamed Salah has said leaving Liverpool FC is the “right thing to do” after a difficult final season at the club.

The Egyptian forward is expected to leave at the end of the 2025/2026 season, after announcing his decision last month.

Salah joined Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017 and has been one of the club’s most important players in recent years. But things have not gone smoothly lately.

Reports suggest there were problems over his contract last season, and also some tension between him and the current coach, Arne Slot.

These issues are believed to have influenced his decision to leave.

In an interview with club legend Steven Gerrard on TNT Sports, Salah said the challenges this season made him realise it was time to move on.

He explained that, after everything that has happened, he feels at peace with his decision and believes it is the right step for him.

Salah also said he is happy with his choice, adding that the situation this season made it clear to him that it was time to go.

He is expected to miss Liverpool’s upcoming league match against Manchester United on Sunday, May 3.
