Negotiations between Arsenal and Newcastle United over the proposed transfer of Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimarães have entered a decisive stage, with reports indicating that a breakthrough could be reached within the next 24 to 48 hours.
According to reports, discussions between the two Premier League clubs have been “unlocked”, raising hopes that the long-running transfer saga could soon be resolved.
The latest development comes after Arsenal intensified efforts to sign the Newcastle captain ahead of the start of the new season.
Arsenal have identified Guimarães as one of their priority midfield targets after the Brazil international expressed his desire to join the Premier League champions this summer.
However, Newcastle have remained firm in their valuation of the 28-year-old, rejecting an opening offer believed to be worth around £70 million. The Magpies are understood to be seeking a package closer to £80 million before allowing their captain to leave.
