The 2026/27 UMB Division One League is set to kick off this weekend across the three zones, with clubs beginning their campaigns with the ambition of securing promotion to the Ghana Premier League.
The new season is expected to produce intense competition as teams battle for points and consistency in the race for places in Ghana’s top flight.
In Zone Three, the opening round will begin with two matches today, Friday before the remaining fixtures are played on Saturday and Sunday.
Accra Lions will host Golden Warriors at the University of Ghana Stadium in one of Friday’s matches, while newly promoted 7th Wave FC will face True Democracy at the Tuba Astro Turf.
The encounter will provide 7th Wave FC with an early test as they begin life in the Division One League following their promotion.
Attention will also turn to Saturday’s fixtures, with Okwahu United taking on Semper Fi in another opening-day contest.
Golden Kick FC will face WAFA SC as both sides begin their campaigns with hopes of making a strong start to the season.
Former Ghana Premier League champions Accra Great Olympics will also be in action when they come up against Attram De Visser.
Great Olympics will be looking to use their experience to navigate what promises to be a competitive Division One campaign, while Attram De Visser will aim to begin the season with a positive result.
Another eye-catching fixture will see Kotoku Royals face Inter Allies in a clash involving two sides with ambitions of competing strongly in Zone Three.
