The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting incident that caused panic at the Adjin Kotoku Onion Market in the Greater Accra Region.

The incident, which occurred on April 5, 2026, reportedly disrupted trading activities at the busy market, one of the key commercial hubs serving traders and transporters on the outskirts of Accra.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that the disturbance led to fear among traders, many of whom fled the scene to seek safety.

In a statement released by the police, they have confirmed that a special surveillance team operating under the Special Operations Assistant (SOA) to the Inspector General of Police was swiftly deployed to the area following the incident.

The operation was part of an intelligence-led effort to track down those responsible for the shooting and restore calm to the community.

On April 8, 2026, at approximately 3:00 pm, the team successfully arrested the suspect, identified as Inusah Seidu, aged 40.

He was apprehended at his hideout within Adjin Kotoku after days of surveillance and intelligence gathering.

According to the police, Seidu is believed to have played a key role in the shooting incident, although further details about his exact involvement have not yet been disclosed.

The suspect is currently in police custody and is assisting with ongoing investigations.

Ghana Police Service says efforts are underway to identify and arrest other individuals who may have been involved in the disturbance.

The police have assured the public of their commitment to maintaining law and order, especially in major trading centers where large numbers of people gather daily.

They have also urged residents and traders in the Adjin Kotoku area to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing any relevant information that could aid the investigation.

Meanwhile, security presence in the area has reportedly been intensified to prevent any recurrence of violence and to reassure traders as normal business activities gradually resume.
