Residents of Abuakwa in the Atwima Nwabiagya South District are filled with fear after discovering the lifeless body of a man at a riverbank in the vicinity, following a heavy downpour on Sunday night.
The body of the unidentified victim, approximately 40 years old, was seen on the riverbank at Abuakwa DKC by residents early Monday.
Assembly Member for the area, Hon. Evans, stated that residents found the body wearing a shirt over jeans shorts, with the face down in the river, complicating their ability to identify the body.
“Residents found the body in a shirt over jeans shorts, with the face down in the river, making it difficult for them to identify the body,” said Hon. Evans, the Assembly Member for the area said in an interview monitored by The Ghana Report with OTEC News.
He further explained that the deceased is not known in the area, suggesting that he may have been carried downstream after the heavy rains.
”The deceased is unknown in the area,” Hon. Evans told OTEC News, adding, “he might have been dragged downstream after the heavy rains.”
He urged residents and commuters in the area to exercise caution during the rains.
Meanwhile, the Abuakwa police are requesting public assistance as they attempt to locate the relatives of the deceased.
