Leicester City could be heading for a change in ownership, with potential buyers given until Monday, September 14, 2026, to submit formal offers for the English club.
According to reports, Leicester have been valued at more than €230 million, excluding any inherited debt. Several interested groups are understood to be looking into a possible takeover as the club faces a difficult period both on and off the pitch.
A consortium led by Scottish-Indian businessman Neil Lal is among the groups reportedly in discussions over a potential purchase of the club.
Lal has previously expressed interest in acquiring Leicester as part of his plans to invest in football.
The possible sale comes at a difficult time for Leicester. The club, which famously won the Premier League title in 2016, has suffered a dramatic decline in recent years.
The Foxes were relegated from the Premier League in 2025 and suffered another relegation at the end of the 2025/26 season, dropping into League One. Their current situation is a major contrast to the success they enjoyed a decade ago.
Leicester began their League One campaign poorly, taking just one point from their opening two league matches. They have also already been eliminated from the EFL Cup, adding to concerns among supporters about the club’s direction.
The potential takeover could therefore provide a major turning point for Leicester if a buyer is able to complete a deal.
The current ownership, led by the Srivaddhanaprabha family, has been in control of the club since 2010. Under their ownership, Leicester achieved their greatest success by winning the Premier League in the 2015/16 season and later lifting the FA Cup in 2021.
However, the club’s recent financial and sporting difficulties have increased attention on its ownership and future.
