NDC delegation walks out of NPP Delegates Conference

A delegation of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has left the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) National Delegates Conference in Kumasi, citing prolonged delays and what it described as poor organisation.

The delegation, led by NDC Deputy National Women Organiser Dzifa Tsegah, arrived at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium at about 9:30 a.m. for a programme scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.

However, by 2:00 p.m., the conference had still not commenced, prompting the NDC representatives to leave the venue.

Speaking to journalists, Ms Tsegah expressed frustration over the lack of clear communication from the organisers. She said neither the NDC delegation nor representatives of other political parties had been given sufficient information about when the programme would begin or when solidarity messages would be delivered.

She noted that the conference programme was expected to end by 1:00 p.m., yet voting had not started several hours later.

Ms Tsegah said the situation had left delegates who travelled from different parts of the country waiting without clear direction.

She argued that the delays raised concerns about the NPP’s ability to organise itself effectively and said the party had significant work to do to strengthen its internal structures.

Despite her criticism, she stressed the importance of having a strong opposition to support Ghana’s democratic system and hold the government accountable.

The NDC delegation said it eventually left because of other engagements but hoped its solidarity message would still reach the NPP through the media.
