NPP Delegates Conference: LPG urges NPP to ignore distractions and stay united

The Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) has called on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to maintain unity and concentrate on strengthening the party’s internal structures.

The call was made during the NPP’s National Delegates Conference in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3, where the LPG delivered a solidarity message to the governing party.

The LPG said the conference offered the NPP an important opportunity to deepen its democratic processes and bring its members together as the party undertakes internal reorganisation.

It cautioned NPP members against allowing disagreements or the actions of individuals to disrupt the party’s efforts to rebuild.
According to the LPG, party members should remain focused rather than pay attention to people it believes could distract the NPP from its political objectives.

The party also said it believed many Ghanaians were dissatisfied with the current political situation and claimed there was growing interest in former Vice President and NPP flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

The LPG stressed that its comments were intended as an observation of the political situation rather than simply an endorsement of the former Vice President.

It further urged political actors to protect democratic values and promote tolerance, raising concerns about what it described as harassment and intolerance.

The NPP’s National Delegates Conference is being held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, with more than 7,000 delegates expected to take part in the election of national officers.
