GWL resumes production at Barekese treatment plant after repairs

Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has announced the successful completion of repair operations on the transmission pipeline at the Barekese Water Treatment Plant, resulting in the recommencement of water production for Kumasi and its neighbouring communities.

In a statement released on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, GWL indicated that the repair operations were finalised at 4:00 a.m., significantly ahead of the anticipated completion timeline.

The company noted that the effective and prompt completion of the repairs was attributed to the commitment and professionalism of its technical and operational teams, who worked diligently to restore services to customers.

The resumption of production is anticipated to enhance the water supply to residents within the Kumasi Metropolitan Area and surrounding communities that were impacted by the disruption.

The management of Ghana Water Limited expressed gratitude to customers, stakeholders, and the general public for their patience, understanding, and cooperation throughout the repair process.
