Ghana to learn from Zambia to cut energy losses – Sam George

Ghana’s Minister for Communication, Technology and Innovation, Sam George, says the country wants to learn from how Zambia is improving its power system and reducing energy losses.

He explained that Ghana currently faces serious problems with its electricity distribution. A large amount of power is lost before it reaches consumers, which affects revenue and weakens the overall system.

During his interview today, Sam George said Zambia has made good progress by using technology to manage waste in its energy grid. He believes Ghana can learn from this approach.

He pointed out that Zambia has found ways to make sure more of the electricity it produces is actually used and paid for, especially by industries. This is something Ghana needs to improve, especially as demand for electricity keeps growing.

Sam George said Ghana loses about 30% of its power during distribution, and fixing this problem should be a top priority.

He believes using modern technology could help reduce these losses and make the system more efficient.

He also mentioned that working together with Zambia would be helpful for both countries. By sharing ideas and experiences, they can both find better ways to solve their energy challenges.
