Court reinstates Abronye DC’s bail conditions

An Accra Circuit Court has reinstated the bail conditions of Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, after confirming that he had fully complied with the court’s directives.

The decision came during proceedings on Monday, June 8, 2026, after the court reviewed his compliance with the conditions attached to his bail.

Abronye DC was remanded into police custody on June 4, 2026, for failing to meet a key requirement of his bail. The court had directed him to surrender his passport as part of the conditions tied to an ongoing criminal case against him.

During Monday’s hearing, his lawyer, Daniel Martey Addo, informed the court that his client had now fulfilled all the requirements, including the submission of his passports.

The court then requested confirmation from its registrar. The registrar confirmed that the passports had been deposited with the court on the morning of Friday, June 5, 2026.

After receiving the confirmation, the court restored Abronye DC to his previous bail terms, allowing him to remain on bail while the case continues.

However, the court warned that it would revoke the bail if he breached any of the conditions in the future.

The Bono Regional Chairman is currently facing a charge of false publication in a case being prosecuted by the State.

The latest ruling follows weeks of legal proceedings surrounding his bail status. Last month, a High Court granted him bail after he was initially remanded following his appearance before the court on the charge.

As part of that bail arrangement, the court ordered him to surrender his passport. His failure to do so within the required period led to his remand earlier this month.

With the passport now deposited and all conditions met, the court said it was satisfied that Abronye DC had complied with its orders and therefore restored his bail.
