A 37-year-old woman, known as Rukaya Alhassan, has been discovered dead in her room at Kasoa 95, located in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region, in what is believed to be a suicide by hanging.

The tragic event was uncovered by her 11-year-old daughter, who reportedly found her mother suspended from a ceiling fan with a piece of decorative fabric around her neck.

The distressed child raised the alarm, prompting neighbors and other co-tenants to rush to the room. They reportedly cut her down and attempted to save her, but she was later pronounced dead.

Preliminary information suggests that the deceased may have been experiencing emotional distress.

The Assembly Member for the Kasoa New Town Electoral Area and an uncle of the deceased, Abdul Wahab, informed the media that some audio messages exchanged between Rukaya and her husband, who resides abroad, had been retrieved.

According to him, the recordings indicate that the deceased had been appealing to her husband to return home and had allegedly threatened to harm herself if he failed to do so.

Her husband, in response, reportedly urged her not to take her life and reminded her of their young daughter.
