Assin Kyekyewere Circuit Court acquits three of attempted robbery charges

The Assin Nsuaem Kyekyewere Circuit Court in the Central Region has acquitted and discharged three accused persons who were standing trial on charges of attempted robbery.

The three were arraigned before the court following allegations that they were involved in an attempted robbery incident within the Assin Nsuaem Kyekyewere enclave. They had denied the charges from the outset and maintained their innocence throughout the trial.

During proceedings, the prosecution was expected to establish that the accused persons conspired and attempted to carry out a robbery.

However, the court found that the evidence presented did not meet the legal threshold required to sustain a criminal conviction.

After a full hearing of the case, the presiding judge ruled that the prosecution had failed to prove the charges beyond a reasonable doubt, which is the standard required under Ghanaian criminal law.

As a result, the court entered a verdict of not guilty and formally discharged all three accused persons, bringing the case to an end.

The acquittal effectively frees the individuals from any further legal obligation in relation to the charges, unless new and compelling evidence emerges in the future to justify reopening the case.
