Former Senior Presidential Advisor Yaw Osafo-Maafo has warned that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) risks losing power in the 2028 general election if it fails to fulfil its campaign promises.
The senior New Patriotic Party (NPP) member said Ghanaian’s would judge the government based on its performance and could vote against the party if expectations are not met.
He expressed confidence that voters would reject the NDC if the party disappoints the electorate, saying the party would be “uprooted like mushrooms” in the next election.
Meanwhile, Akyem Oda MP Alexander Akwasi Acquah described the turnout at the NPP’s constituency elections as a sign of renewed commitment among party members to reorganise and prepare for a return to power in 2028.
He said the enthusiasm among the grassroots shows their determination to rebuild the party and support its presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
The MP called for unity and dedication among party members, stressing that cohesion would be key to achieving the NPP’s political goals ahead of the next general election.
