A Junior High School (JHS) 1 student is fighting for his life after sustaining a severe machete injury inflicted by a female classmate, who accused him of repeatedly touching her breast during a campus clean-up activity.
The 15-year-old female student from Assin Krofofrodo D/A Basic School in the Assin North District of the Central Region had cautioned the victim multiple times against his behaviour, but he disregarded her warnings.
The school authorities had directed the students to clear the overgrown school grounds using cutlasses.
According to the girl’s account, the boy persistently played with and fondled her breasts while they were engaged in the task.
The girl stated that she repeatedly urged the boy to cease touching and playing with her breasts.
However, she claimed that the boy, intent on “taking a feel” of her breasts, ignored her warnings and continued his inappropriate actions.
Infuriated by his behaviour, the girl seized a cutlass and struck the boy on his inner wrist.
The victim suffered a deep cutlass wound and was promptly taken to a nearby hospital for medical care after losing a significant amount of blood.
The parents of the injured boy have accused the school authorities of negligence, asserting that they displayed a lack of concern following the incident, which occurred during school hours.
According to the parents, the authorities allegedly failed to take immediate action or transport the boy to the hospital after he sustained his injuries.
They assert that the boy was left without assistance for a considerable time, despite bleeding profusely, until his parent returned from the farm and ultimately took him to the hospital for treatment.
Speaking on behalf of the family, the victim’s elder sister, Joyce Enyan, urged the police to carry out a comprehensive investigation into the actions of the school authorities and their management of the incident.
“He said a female colleague inflicted a cutlass wound on him while they were playing. He says he wrapped his arm around her neck and mistakenly touched her breast.
“The teachers didn’t pay much attention to him after the injury. He nearly passed out. His shirt was completely drenched with blood,” Joyce Enyan added.
