PSG beat Arsenal on penalties to win champions league

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) successfully defended their UEFA Champions League title after defeating Arsenal on penalties in a dramatic final at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest on Saturday evening.

The match ended 1-1 after extra time before the French champions triumphed 4-3 in the penalty shootout.

Arsenal made a bright start and took the lead in the sixth minute through Kai Havertz. The English side looked determined to win their first-ever Champions League title and controlled large parts of the first half.

PSG, however, gradually grew into the game and found an equaliser in the 65th minute when Ousmane Dembélé converted a penalty after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was fouled inside the box.

Neither team could find a winning goal during the remainder of normal time or in extra time. The final was eventually decided by penalties, where PSG held their nerve.

Arsenal missed two spot-kicks, including the decisive penalty, allowing the Paris club to lift the famous trophy for the second consecutive year.

The victory marks another important chapter in PSG’s history in the competition. For many years, the club invested heavily in world-class players but struggled to win Europe’s biggest prize.

They lost their first Champions League final in 2020 before finally becoming champions in 2025. This latest triumph confirms their growing dominance on the European stage.

Domestically, PSG have continued to dominate French football, winning multiple Ligue 1 titles and establishing themselves as the strongest club in France.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have enjoyed an impressive season in England, winning the Premier League and reaching their first Champions League final in two decades.

Although the London club fell short in Budapest, their performances in both the Premier League and Europe have shown that they are once again among the continent’s elite teams.
