Kylian Mbappé has expressed his desire to dedicate the Ballon d’Or to Africa if he wins football’s prestigious individual award.
The France and Real Madrid forward spoke about his strong connection to the African continent and his roots, saying he has continued to feel a close bond with Africa throughout his career.
“I’ve never lost the connection with my roots and my origins. Every time I go to Africa, I feel the love from the people,” Mbappé said.
The 27-year-old added that he has always felt welcomed and supported whenever he visits the continent.
“I’ve always felt very loved on the African continent,” he said.
Mbappé is among the leading names associated with the Ballon d’Or, having established himself as one of the world’s top forwards.
The French star has enjoyed a highly successful career, winning major domestic honours and playing a key role for the France national team.
He moved to Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain in 2024 and has continued to attract global attention with his performances.
The forward said he hopes to leave the ceremony with the coveted award and, if successful, dedicate the achievement to Africa.
