Former Barcelona defender Gerard Piqué has reignited the long-running debate over refereeing in Spanish football after making strong claims about decisions involving Real Madrid.
Piqué, who remains one of Real Madrid’s most outspoken critics, accused the club’s supporters of frequently focusing on refereeing decisions whenever discussions about football controversies arise.
According to the former Spain international, refereeing mistakes have affected many teams over the years, but he believes Real Madrid have historically benefited from such decisions.
“You always bring up the referees. There are many refereeing mistakes, but historically, they have always been in favor of Real Madrid,” Piqué said.

The former defender also referred to controversial moments from the UEFA Champions League, particularly decisions that have been debated by fans and football experts.
Piqué mentioned Real Madrid’s Champions League victories and pointed to goals he believes should not have counted. He specifically referred to Sergio Ramos’ goal in a Champions League final, describing it as an “illegal goal.”
