Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella has officially completed a transfer to Spanish giants Real Madrid from English Premier League club Chelsea in a deal worth around €60 million.
Both clubs have now confirmed the agreement, ending days of speculation around the defender’s future. Cucurella has signed a long-term contract that will keep him at the Santiago Bernabéu until June 2032.
The deal is understood to include an initial fee of around €55 million, with an additional €5 million in performance-related bonuses.
The transfer was completed after both clubs reached full agreement, and the player completed the required formalities.
Cucurella, 27, joins Real Madrid after spending four years in the Premier League with Chelsea. During his time in London, he established himself as a regular squad member and played a key role in Chelsea’s recent domestic and European campaigns, including their UEFA Conference League and Club World Cup success.
The Spanish defender began his career in Barcelona’s youth system before playing for Eibar and Getafe in La Liga. His strong performances in Spain earned him a move to Brighton & Hove Albion, before Chelsea signed him in 2022.
Real Madrid have been actively strengthening their squad as they prepare for upcoming domestic and European challenges.
The club is focused on building depth in defence, and Cucurella is seen as an important addition due to his versatility, energy, and experience at top-level football.
The transfer also marks another return to Spain for Cucurella, who has previously expressed his desire to play in La Liga again. He is expected to compete for a starting place immediately under the new Real Madrid setup.
Chelsea, meanwhile, will now look to restructure their defensive options following his departure.
