Ghanaian Hajj Pilgrims begin return journey from Saudi Arabia

The return of Ghanaian Muslim pilgrims from this year’s Hajj has officially begun, with flights leaving King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah as part of their journey back home.

On Sunday, 14 June 2026, the third return flight left Jeddah with 431 pilgrims on board. The group headed to Tamale International Airport in Ghana after completing their pilgrimage.

The aircraft departed at 8:14pm Saudi time (5:14pm Ghana time) from King Abdulaziz International Airport. This marked another step in the planned process to bring all Ghanaian pilgrims back home safely.

Officials in charge of the operation said the evacuation is progressing smoothly. They continue to send pilgrims in batches according to the approved flight timetable. At the airport, many pilgrims showed joy and relief as they ended their spiritual journey in the Holy Land.

Several pilgrims gave thanks to Allah for a successful Hajj experience. They described the pilgrimage as deeply meaningful and life-changing.

The Communications Directorate of the Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG) said it has maintained proper logistics, coordination, and welfare support to ensure an orderly return process for all pilgrims.

More flights will continue in the coming days until every Ghanaian pilgrim returns home.

“Glory be to Allah,” pilgrims and officials said as the repatriation process continued under close coordination between Ghanaian and Saudi authorities.
