The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has received sports nutrition products and technical support from Japanese company Meiji Holdings as part of efforts to improve player health and performance.
Meiji Holdings presented a support package to the GFA on Monday, September 14, 2026, during the company’s centenary celebration at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra.
The package includes SAVAS sports nutrition supplements and protein shakes, with further financial support expected to go towards health and nutrition coaching.
The initiative is expected to help improve the understanding and use of sports nutrition among football officials and players.
GFA Vice-President Mark Addo welcomed the support and particularly praised Meiji’s decision to provide technical expertise to the Association.
He said experts from the Japanese company are expected to train GFA officials on the proper use of SAVAS sports nutrition supplements and protein products.
“I am excited to hear that you will bring in experts to teach and train our officials. We appreciate this and look forward to more collaborative efforts,” Mark Addo said.
The planned training is expected to give officials a better understanding of nutrition and how it can support athlete preparation, health and performance.
The GFA is also expected to explore ways of introducing Meiji’s SAVAS products to the Ghanaian market, using the popularity and reach of football.
GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku welcomed the initiative and said football could play an important role in promoting the SAVAS brand.
“Football is and will always be a good vehicle for SAVAS in terms of market penetration strategy,” he said.
