Our hunger remains strong -Thomas Asante

Brandon Thomas-Asante has insisted that Ghana’s World Cup ambitions remain strong despite the Black Stars’ 2-1 defeat to Croatia, emphasising the team’s determination to continue building the nation’s football legacy as they prepare for the Round of 32.

Speaking after Saturday’s final Group L match at Lincoln Financial Field, the Coventry City striker said the squad remains focused on achieving success together and making the country proud on the global stage.

According to Thomas-Asante, the players arrived at the tournament with clear objectives, both individually and collectively, and remain committed to reaching those goals.

“We came into the World Cup with high expectations and a strong desire to succeed. As players, we all have personal ambitions, but ultimately everything is geared towards helping the team achieve success,” he said.

Although Ghana finished third in the group on four points, the Black Stars secured qualification to the knockout stage and will face Colombia in Kansas City on July 4.

Thomas-Asante highlighted the confidence within the camp, pointing to the quality and determination of the squad as key reasons for optimism ahead of the next round.

“When you look around our dressing room, you see talent, quality and players who are hungry to achieve something special. We want to make a name for ourselves and continue the proud legacy of Ghanaian football,” he added.

His remarks reflect the mindset promoted by head coach Carlos Queiroz, who has repeatedly reminded the team that reaching the knockout stage is only the beginning of their journey.
