New Manchester City midfielder Enzo has revealed how his development as a player has shaped his current style, while praising Enzo Maresca for playing an important role in his move to the club.
Speaking about his position, Enzo explained that he began his career as a midfielder before being deployed in more advanced roles and occasionally in a double-pivot system.
Despite those changes, he said he has always considered himself a midfielder and now particularly enjoys making runs into the penalty area and contributing goals.
The midfielder also spoke highly of Maresca, describing the former Chelsea coach as a passionate manager from whom he learned a lot during his time at Stamford Bridge.
Enzo said he was grateful to Maresca for the role he played in helping secure his transfer to Manchester City.
According to the player, completing the move was not straightforward, with lengthy discussions and considerable effort required before the deal was finalised.
He also revealed that his close friend Julián Álvarez helped him understand more about Manchester City before his arrival.
Enzo said Álvarez spoke to him about the club, its culture and what it means to represent City, helping him gain a better understanding of his new environment.
