The Ghana Football Association (GFA) will organise a Licence D Coaching Course in the Western Region from November 23 to 30, 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen football coaching at the grassroots level.
The week-long programme will be held at Bompeh Senior High School in Sekondi-Takoradi and is expected to provide aspiring coaches with the basic knowledge and practical skills needed to begin their coaching careers.
The intensive course will feature a combination of classroom-based theoretical lessons and practical sessions.
Participants will be introduced to key coaching principles and techniques designed to help them identify, develop and nurture young football talents.
The programme is also expected to place strong emphasis on the welfare and protection of young players. As part of the course, participants will undergo GFA/FIFA Safeguarding training to improve their understanding of their responsibilities towards the safety, welfare and development of children involved in football.
The safeguarding component will equip coaches with knowledge of how to create a safe and supportive environment for young players, particularly at the grassroots level.
The course will be supervised by GFA Technical Director Professor Joseph Kwame Mintah and Head of Coach Education Dr. Prosper Nartey.
The two officials will provide technical guidance and oversight throughout the programme to ensure that participants receive the required training and coaching education.
The Licence D course forms part of efforts by the GFA to improve the standard of coaching in the country by giving more aspiring coaches access to structured education and practical experience.
