Former Spain international Cesc Fàbregas has expressed a strong emotional connection to Barcelona, saying he dreams of returning to the club one day as a coach.
Speaking in a recent interview, the former midfielder described Barcelona as more than just a club he once played for, explaining that it remains a key part of his identity both on and off the pitch.
“Barcelona is not just a club I played for; it’s part of who I am,” Fàbregas said. “The philosophy, the way the ball moves, the courage to play beautiful football… it stays with you forever.”
Fàbregas came through Barcelona’s famous youth academy, La Masia, before going on to play for top European clubs including Arsenal and Chelsea. He also returned to Barcelona later in his career, winning several major trophies during his time at the club.
The 2010 World Cup winner went on to say that he would love to return to the Catalan giants in a coaching role in the future. He made it clear that his ambition is to contribute to the club’s next generation of players.

“One day, I would love to return, not as a player, but as a coach,” he said. “To give back, to guide a new generation, and to live that dream again from the touchline, that would be something truly special.”
Fàbregas has already begun his coaching journey since retiring from professional football in 2023, working currently with the Seria A club Como as he builds experience on the sidelines.
