ECG announces four-day power cuts in Accra East

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a four-day planned maintenance exercise that will cause temporary power outages in several communities within the Accra East Region.

The exercise is scheduled to run from Monday, August 10, to Thursday, August 13, 2026.

ECG said affected customers may experience power interruptions between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. each day.

In a press statement issued on Saturday, August 8, the company explained that the exercise forms part of planned maintenance works aimed at improving electricity supply and service delivery in the affected communities.

ECG has therefore urged residents and businesses in the affected areas to make the necessary arrangements ahead of the scheduled outages.

Monday, August 10

The first phase of the exercise will take place on Monday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Areas expected to experience an outage include Teiman, Oyarifa, Mr Smith, parts of Ogbodjo, Tsmasiwaa Hospital, Ability and surrounding areas.

Tuesday, August 11

On Tuesday, August 11, maintenance works will affect customers from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in Ashiyie, parts of Dodowa, Tobinco, Oasis Estate, Manet Junction and surrounding areas.

Wednesday, August 12

The third day of the exercise is scheduled for Wednesday, August 12.

The affected areas will include parts of Labone, Agbogba Zongo, Adenta SDA, Tot-to-teen School, Top Herbal Clinic, parts of Madina, Libya Quarters and surrounding areas.

The planned outage is also expected to run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Thursday, August 13

On the final day, Thursday, 13 August, the exercise will affect Achimota School and surrounding areas.

The scheduled maintenance period is again 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

ECG said customers in the listed areas should expect temporary interruptions in electricity supply while the maintenance works are carried out.
