Ghana’s Black Maidens have left Accra for Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire, ahead of the 2026 WAFU B U17 Girls Cup, which begins on Tuesday, September 15.
The 20-member Ghana squad, together with the technical team, departed Accra on Sunday as the team prepares to begin its title defence.
Ghana will enter the tournament with high expectations after establishing itself as the most successful team in the history of the competition.
The Black Maidens will be aiming to add another trophy to their collection and maintain their dominance in the WAFU B region.
The technical team is expected to use the final training sessions to fine-tune the players and work on their tactical approach before the opening game.
The Black Maidens have been placed among the leading teams in the competition and will be hoping to make a strong start to their campaign.
Their opening match is scheduled for Tuesday, September 15 against Burkina Faso, when Ghana will begin the defence of the title.
The WAFU B U17 Girls Cup is an important competition for the young players as they seek to gain valuable international experience and compete against some of the best young female talents in the sub-region.
