Berekum City, Steadfast FC return to Division One League

Berekum City and Steadfast FC have secured their return to the UMB Division One League for the 2026/27 season.

The two clubs will compete in Zone One after earning promotion from their respective Division Two leagues.

Both teams were relegated from the second tier two seasons ago but have quickly bounced back and will now begin their campaign to return to the Ghana Premier League.

Steadfast FC will open their Zone One A campaign against Wa Power at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on Friday.

The Tamale-based side will be hoping to start strongly as they target one of the two available places in the promotion playoff.

Tamale City, who finished as finalists last season, will face Northern City in a local derby at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on Sunday.

In another Zone One A fixture, Real Tamale United will travel to the Yendi Youth Resource Centre to face Sankara Nationals.

The competition is expected to be tight, with clubs aiming to finish among the top two teams and secure a place in the playoff for promotion to the Premier League.

In Zone One B, Victory Club Warriors will take on Bectero Sasana FC at the Wenchi Sports Stadium.

Eleven Wonders will also face Mighty Royals at the Ohene Ameyaw Park in Techiman in another highly anticipated encounter.

Dormaa Unity FC will host Techiman Liberty Youth at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park in Dormaa Ahenkro on Sunday.

The two zones will provide a tough battle for promotion, with the top two teams from each zone advancing to the playoff stage.

The eventual playoff winner will earn the right to compete in the 2027/28 Ghana Premier League season.
