Barcelona have reportedly identified Cesc Fabregas as their preferred candidate to succeed Hansi Flick as head coach in the future.
According to reports from Spain, the Catalan club is closely monitoring Fabregas’ progress at Como and is impressed by the work he has done since taking charge of the Italian side.
A key figure at Barcelona has already spoken with the former Spain international, with the club keeping a close eye on his development as a coach.
Fabregas is said to have attracted admiration within Barcelona for his playing style, match preparation and ability to improve young players.
The former Barcelona midfielder has been building his coaching reputation at Como, where his tactical approach and work with emerging talents have received attention.
Barcelona are understood to view him as a coach who fits the club’s football philosophy. His previous connection with the club as a player is also seen as an added advantage.
However, there is no immediate plan for Fabregas to replace Flick. The German coach remains in charge, while Barcelona continue to assess possible options for the long term.
Fabregas spent part of his playing career at Barcelona after returning to the club in 2011. He later played for Chelsea, Monaco and Como before moving into coaching.
His rise in management has now put him on Barcelona’s radar, with the club reportedly considering him as a potential successor to Flick when a change in the dugout eventually becomes necessary.
