The Black Queens arrived in Morocco in high spirits and will use the pre-tournament camp to sharpen their tactics, improve match fitness and strengthen team chemistry ahead of the competition.

The training camp is expected to include intensive tactical sessions and friendly matches as the technical team fine-tunes the squad before Ghana’s opening fixture.

Ghana has been drawn in Group D alongside Cape Verde, Mali and Cameroon.

The group is expected to be highly competitive, with Cameroon widely regarded as one of Africa’s strongest women’s football nations, while Mali and Cape Verde will also be aiming to progress to the knockout stage.

The Black Queens will be hoping to make a strong impression at this year’s tournament as they seek to reclaim their place among the continent’s elite.

Ghana has a proud history in women’s football, having reached the final of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations on three occasions, in 1998, 2002 and 2006, but is yet to win the continental title.

The team also boasts several appearances at the FIFA Women’s World Cup and the Olympic Games, although recent years have been marked by inconsistent performances.

Their qualification for the 2026 WAFCON was seen as an important step in the country’s efforts to revive women’s football at the highest level.

Swedish coach Kim Lars Björkegren, who was appointed to lead the Black Queens, is expected to use his experience in women’s football to build a competitive side capable of challenging Africa’s best teams.
