French Ligue 1 side Paris FC have officially appointed Liam Rosenior as their new head coach, with the former Chelsea manager signing a contract that will run until June 2028, with an option to extend for an additional year.
The appointment marks a swift return to management for the 41-year-old Englishman, who has been without a club since leaving Chelsea FC earlier this year.
Paris FC confirmed Rosenior’s arrival on Tuesday, ending weeks of speculation about his next destination.
Rosenior replaces veteran French coach Antoine Kombouaré, who guided Paris FC to an impressive 11th-place finish in Ligue 1 last season.
The club’s management believes Rosenior’s modern football philosophy, tactical flexibility and ability to develop young players make him the ideal candidate to lead the team into a new era.
The former defender has built a growing reputation as one of England’s promising young coaches.
Before his brief spell at Chelsea, he earned praise for his work at RC Strasbourg, where he helped the club secure a top-half finish and qualify for European competition.
His success in France played a major role in Chelsea’s decision to appoint him as head coach in January 2026.
Although his time at Stamford Bridge lasted less than four months, Rosenior remained highly regarded within football circles.
Reports suggest he was eager to return to coaching immediately and viewed the Paris FC project as an attractive opportunity to rebuild his managerial career.
Paris FC, who have been steadily growing in ambition and stature in recent years, are backed by powerful investors, including the family of French billionaire Bernard Arnault and energy drinks giant Red Bull.
The club hopes Rosenior can help establish them as a consistent force in Ligue 1 and close the gap on city rivals Paris Saint-Germain.
Rosenior is expected to officially begin work this week as preparations intensify for the new Ligue 1 season.
