Police at Trede in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region have launched investigations into the death of a 35-year-old taxi driver who was found dead in his vehicle at Kotwi-Nkoranza.
The deceased, Kwabena Awuah, popularly known as “Asawado,” was discovered lifeless in his taxi with registration number AW 2458-20 on the morning of Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
According to unconfirmed reports, he may have been attacked by unidentified assailants around midnight while working in his taxi.
The deceased had a misunderstanding with his wife at about 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 27, before informing people around him around 11:00 p.m. that he was going out to work.
His body was, however, found the following morning under circumstances that have shocked residents.
Officers from the Trede Police Station conveyed the body to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
Police say investigations are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the death and identify those responsible.
The motive behind the suspected attack remains unknown.
