Director of Communications for the 2024 Bawumia Campaign Team, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Mr Aboagye announced his decision as the party continues its internal reorganisation process following the 2024 general elections and prepares to rebuild its structures ahead of the 2028 polls.
In his announcement, he expressed gratitude to party members and supporters for their confidence in his leadership and pledged to strengthen the party’s communication machinery if elected.
“I am humbled by the encouragement and support I have received from party faithful across the country. After careful consultation and reflection, I have decided to offer myself to serve as the National Communications Director of our great party,” he stated.
According to him, effective communication remains critical to reconnecting the party with the Ghanaian electorate and projecting the NPP’s vision, values and policy alternatives.
“The NPP needs a communication strategy that is proactive, responsive and capable of engaging Ghanaians across all platforms. Our communication must not only defend our record but also inspire confidence in our future direction,” he said.
Mr Aboagye further pledged to deepen collaboration between the national communication team and grassroots communicators to ensure a more coordinated message across all levels of the party.
“We must empower our communicators at the polling station, constituency and regional levels because they remain the backbone of the party’s engagement with the grassroots,” he added.
The former campaign spokesperson also stressed the importance of embracing digital platforms and emerging technologies in modern political communication.
“The political communication landscape is changing rapidly, and the NPP must position itself to lead conversations both in traditional media and in the digital space,” he noted.
Party supporters and some leading members have welcomed his decision, citing his media experience and role during the 2024 election campaign as qualities that could strengthen the party’s communication efforts.
The position of National Communications Director is expected to be one of the closely contested portfolios during the party’s upcoming national executive elections as the NPP intensifies preparations towards the 2028 general elections.
Mr Aboagye said his campaign would focus on unity, innovation and strategic communication aimed at repositioning the party for electoral success.
“I believe the best days of the NPP are ahead of us. Together, we can build a stronger communication front and prepare the party for victory in 2028,” he said.
