Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has urged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to unite and work hard to win the 2028 general elections and return to government.
According to the former president, the next election presents the party with an important opportunity to regain power, and members must do everything possible to take advantage of it.
Nana Akufo-Addo made the comments when NPP National Communications Director aspirant, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, visited him at his office.
“2028, come what may, we have to win this election. The opportunity is 2028. Let’s grab it and make sure we bring an NPP government back into office,” he said.
The former president’s remarks come as the NPP continues to reorganise its structures and prepare for the 2028 polls after losing power to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 general elections.
The party has already selected former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as its flagbearer for the 2028 election.
Attention has now shifted towards strengthening the party’s structures and communication as it seeks to convince voters to return it to power.
Dennis Miracles Aboagye is also seeking to play a key role in the party’s preparations. He recently picked up nomination forms to contest the position of National Communications Officer of the NPP.
His campaign has focused on creating a more coordinated communication system for the party ahead of the 2028 election.
The NPP has been in opposition since January 2025 after its candidate, Dr. Bawumia, lost the 2024 presidential election to John Dramani Mahama of the NDC.
