Release Oppong Nkrumah’s RTI request on Ghanaian diplomats – Titus Glover to Okudzeto Ablakwa

Former Greater Accra Regional Minister and New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart, Daniel Titus-Glover, has called on the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, to immediately release information requested under the Right to Information (RTI) Act by former Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, regarding Ghanaian diplomats recalled from foreign missions.

Titus Glover accused the Foreign Affairs Minister of deliberately avoiding transparency on the matter despite public interest surrounding the mass recall of diplomats appointed under the previous Akufo-Addo administration.

“Stop dodging and release Oppong Nkrumah’s RTI request on Ghanaian diplomats,” Titus Glover demanded during the discussion.

The controversy stems from a formal RTI application filed by Kojo Oppong Nkrumah seeking details surrounding the recent recall of several Ghanaian diplomats and foreign service officers from missions abroad.

The Ofoase-Ayirebi MP reportedly requested information, including the names of affected officers, the basis for their recall, and the financial implications of the decision.

Titus Glover argued that the RTI Act obliges public institutions and state officials to respond to such requests within the legally stipulated timeframe, insisting that government officials must demonstrate accountability regardless of political affiliation.

“If you are transparent and have nothing to hide, then release the information to the Ghanaian people,” he said.

The former Tema East MP further criticised what he described as the politicisation of Ghana’s diplomatic service, warning that frequent mass recalls following changes in government could negatively affect the country’s foreign relations and institutional stability.
