One dead, eight injured in deadly crash on Kasoa-Winneba road

One person has lost their life while eight others have been injured in a head-on collision between a water tanker and a Toyota Voxy at Tipper Junction along the Kasoa-Winneba Road.

The incident took place on Saturday, August 15, prompting an emergency response from personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), who were summoned to the scene to assist the crash victims.

Firefighters from the Buduburam Fire Station responded to the situation and conducted rescue operations after the collision resulted in multiple injuries.

According to the GNFS, the firefighters successfully rescued eight injured individuals from the accident scene and transported them to the Mother and Child Hospital in Kasoa for medical care.

The victims were taken to the health facility for treatment as emergency medical personnel addressed the injuries sustained in the crash.

However, despite the efforts to save the victims, one individual involved in the accident later succumbed to their injuries.

The fatality raises concerns about road safety along the Kasoa–Winneba Road, a major route used by motorists and commercial vehicles travelling between the Central Region and the Greater Accra Region.

The collision resulted in considerable damage to the vehicles involved. The Toyota Voxy experienced extensive damage, particularly to its engine compartment, following the impact.

The water tanker also incurred damage, although it was described as partial.

The GNFS has not yet revealed the identities of the deceased or the injured individuals.

The precise circumstances that led to the collision are still to be determined.

According to the Fire Service, the cause of the accident remains under investigation, with additional details anticipated to emerge as authorities seek to ascertain what led to the crash.
