Motor rider dead in multi-vehicle crash on Cape Coast–Takoradi Highway

A motorcyclist has been confirmed dead following a serious multi-vehicle crash on the Cape Coast–Takoradi Highway, a major transport route linking the Central and Western Regions.

The accident occurred along a busy stretch of the highway when the motorcycle rider became involved in a collision with other vehicles under circumstances that are yet to be officially clarified. The impact of the crash was severe, leaving the rider critically injured at the scene.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that the crash involved at least two other vehicles, and the impact caused confusion and panic among motorists passing through the area. Some drivers stopped to assist, while others alerted emergency services.

Emergency responders and bystanders rushed to the scene in an attempt to rescue the injured motorcyclist.

However, despite efforts to save him, the rider was pronounced dead either at the scene or shortly after being transported to a nearby health facility.

The collision also left damage to the other vehicles involved, though authorities have not yet confirmed the number of additional injuries. Some occupants were reportedly treated for minor to moderate injuries.

Personnel from the Ghana Police Service arrived at the scene shortly after the incident was reported.

Officers from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) took control of the situation, directing traffic and working to clear the wreckage to prevent further accidents and congestion.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at a nearby mortuary for preservation, identification, and autopsy. Police say the identity of the motorcyclist will be officially communicated once family members are traced and informed.

Preliminary assessments suggest that possible contributing factors may include speeding, improper overtaking, lane indiscipline, or failure to observe traffic regulations.

However, investigators stress that no conclusion has been reached and a full reconstruction of the accident is underway.

The crash led to temporary traffic disruption along the highway as vehicles were diverted or forced to slow down while emergency crews worked at the scene.

Authorities are expected to continue investigations into the incident, including mechanical inspections of the vehicles involved and interviews with eyewitnesses, before releasing an official report on the cause of the crash.
