The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has rejected calls for dialogue with the government over recent political tensions, insisting there is “nothing to discuss” while accusing the administration of using diversionary tactics and intimidation against opposition figures.
The party’s strong response follows recent developments involving investigations, arrests, and controversies surrounding some former government officials and party members, issues the NPP claims are politically motivated.
Speaking on the matter, leading figures within the party argued that the current political atmosphere is becoming increasingly hostile toward opposition voices and warned that the NPP would not remain silent in the face of what it described as intimidation and selective justice.
“There is nothing to discuss,” party communicators insisted, rejecting suggestions for political engagement or behind-the-scenes negotiations over the ongoing tensions.
According to the party, recent actions by state institutions are intended to distract public attention from major national challenges, including economic hardships, unemployment, and rising public dissatisfaction.
The NPP further accused the government of attempting to weaken opposition resistance through fear and public pressure, but vowed that the party would continue defending its members and supporters.
“We will resist intimidation,” some party officials declared during media engagements, stressing that democratic governance must allow dissenting political voices to operate freely without harassment.
The comments come amid heightened political debate following investigations involving some former appointees and politically exposed persons linked to the previous administration.
