The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has cautioned contractors, suppliers, consultants, and the general public to ignore fake contract award notices and fraudulent procurement adverts being circulated in its name.
In a statement released on Friday, May 15, 2026, the Fund raised concern that some individuals are using false job adverts and fake project opportunities to trick people and demand money from unsuspecting contractors and bidders.
It stressed that these publications are not authorised and do not come from GETFund.
The Fund also clarified that it does not directly award contracts to contractors, contrary to what the fake notices suggest.
Instead, it said its role is to allocate approved projects to various coordinating councils after Parliament gives approval and after receiving requests from stakeholders such as heads of institutions, Members of Parliament, and Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).
“Any individual, contractor, supplier, consultant, or organisation that engages with persons behind such fraudulent publications does so at their own risk and will not be dealing with GETFund in any official capacity.
“GETFund shall not be held liable or responsible for any loss, financial commitment, or engagement arising from dealings connected to these fake publications or unauthorised procurement claims,” the statement warned.
Meanwhile, GETFund said it is working with the Ghana Police Service and other national security agencies to track down those behind the scam.
The Fund assured the public that the culprits would be arrested and prosecuted.
It also urged people to stay alert and report any suspicious messages, advertisements, or individuals linked to fake contract offers to the nearest police station or security office.
“The Fund reiterates that all official procurement processes, contract awards, and public notices of GETFund are communicated only through authorised and verifiable channels in accordance with established public procurement laws and procedures,” the statement added.
