Former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Sara Adwoa Safo, is reportedly receiving medical treatment after a shooting incident involving her vehicle near the residence of her younger brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, popularly known as Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena.
The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday at the home of Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena, where he was said to be meeting supporters as part of efforts to succeed his late father, Apostle Emeritus Kwadwo Safo, as leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission.
According to reports, police officers from the Dome District Command were alerted and quickly arrived at the scene to provide security as tensions in the area increased.
Witnesses claim that Adwoa Safo was present when armed men allegedly opened fire on her vehicle. The gunmen are alleged to have been acting on the instructions of Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena, although this claim has not been independently verified.
Reports indicate that about 15 rounds of ammunition were fired during the incident. One of the bullets is said to have grazed the former MP near her neck.
She was rushed to a medical facility for treatment and is currently receiving care.
Sources close to her say she is in stable condition.
The incident comes at a time of growing disagreement within the Kristo Asafo family over who should succeed the late Apostle Emeritus Kwadwo Safo.
The succession process has already sparked legal disputes, with some family members opposing moves to install Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena as the next leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission.
As of the time this report was filed, the Ghana Police Service had not released an official statement on the alleged shooting.
